During a train robbery, Curry is given a flyer discussing a new program that the governor is sponsoring. There Clementine falls in love with the alcalde, which is a problem for the Kid, who's supposed to be her husband. Now a game of Montana Red Dog starts, with very high stakes. During the last seventeen episodes, played Hannibal Heyes. And in the meantime they will still be wanted. They return to Armendariz' ranch and try to sell her on the idea as well, but she doesn't seem to buy it.
But instead of falling for this trick the casino owner manages to steal the real necklace. Only then will he find out the real reason for the kidnapping. Bronson Howitzer is a pseudonym for Ric Hardman. How long will it take until the sheriff puts two and two together, and grabs Heyes and the Kid? Can Heyes and the Kid, or any of the other passengers warn Lom before he arrives? Meanwhile the old prospector has turned up - he hadn't been dying, but was simply weighed down by all that gold dust and was suffering from a hernia. Hunting them is everybody, from sheriffs to bounty hunters, to posses and ordinary people.
Present is also a professional bounty hunter, who also wants the diamond, and the sheriff who caught the original thief. Heyes encourages the Kid to have some faith, but when they sneak back in to talk to the sister, they are captured - to be brought to the border the next day. They and their friend, Bronc, check into a boarding house near where the horses are, and meet some people whose coach has broken down. Who will find the diamond first: Georgie, the sheriff, the bounty hunter, or the diamond-seeking animal that Heyes brings? In a role reversal of sorts for our heroes, Heyes strikes out miserably talking the talk and playing the cards with a beautiful brunette, while Curry finds a kinship with a very young, very beautiful blonde lady, who has an over protective older brother. Among them is Beegee, a woman on the look-out for a husband, and who takes a good look at both Heyes and the Kid.
Heyes and the Kid confront the bank manager, and manage to convince him that they are bounty hunters, and that they were on Heyes' and the Kid's track far away when the burglary took place. But the owner of the casino calls the bluff, and Heyes and the Kid have to leave with their tails between their legs. A doctor says to the man that he is dying. Can they withstand the attacks until Heyes comes back with reinforcements? But the teacher won't talk — not until Heyes uses his charms on her. A game of poker seals the Kid's fate, but before they can leave, they are shot at. He joins the rest of the boys working the mine, and although Heyes and Curry are extremely annoyed at the loss of their gold, things carry on until one day winter arrives with a rush and the men discover that they are snowed in for the winter in a cabin high up in the mountains.
The show was created by Roy Hoggins who was also the producer and director. . But can they persuade the smiling man to return their share of the gold? It's time to take a stand. Heyes and the Kid get away, but changes their mind when they realize that the family could get in trouble for their sake. Now things get really tough for Heyes, the Kid and Georgette, as the casino owner sees through their every bluff.
And can the Kid out-draw him? When Heyes and the gunman are both critically wounded, Curry goes berserk and blasts away at them until they turn tail. Then the banker takes a closer look at the counterfeit money, and decides he wants a piece of the action. The two guys did all they could in their operations to avoid killing people. Of course, avoiding trouble is easier said than done for the Butch and Sundance-like duo, since there is still a sizable bounty on their heads. But as he tries to return the favor, the Kid is kidnapped. Heyes and the Kid meet with their old friend, who has a tempting offer - 80. They wanted to break away from the gang and live new and clean lives.
Can the Kid pull it off without Heyes' silver tongue? Heyes can not understand why the Kid doesn´t comply for the sake of peace and quiet, but a former Preacher turned town drunk has an interesting idea: that the Kid is a saint who always turns the other cheek. Things get worse when the cabin is covered with snow, and they realize that they will have to stay there for the winter. The lynching was based on the 1889 hangings of Jim Averill and , whom would resurrect as the leads of Heaven's Gate. The governor made this agreement with them in private and wanted it to be kept confidential for political concerns. While working around the ranch every day, a close friendship forms between the boys and the family. So he hires Heyes and Curry to try to negotiate a settlement. But is there someone else involved? They become idols of sorts for the family's two tomboy daughters, and quickly learn to like all of them.
